Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or related industry experience
  • minimum 3 years as Inspector 1/Inspector 2 or equivalent
  • approval by AmSpec training for Inspector 3 suitability
  • ability to read, write and communicate in English
  • strong leadership and mentoring skills
  • advanced math proficiency
  • mid-level to advanced computer skills
  • valid current driving license and unrestricted use of insured vehicle
  • willingness to accept 24/7 job assignments including overtime and shift work
  • ability to work in refineries, terminals, and marine vessels
  • availability to respond to office communications at all times
  • attendance at monthly safety meetings
  • TWIC Card may be required
  • comply with AmSpec D&A Policy
  • pass pre-employment, random and annual drug and alcohol testing including marijuana
  • pass annual pulmonary fitness test
  • pass physical examination upon request
  • qualify annually for respirator fit test and OSHA blood test
  • ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • ability to work in confined spaces wearing respiratory and skin protection
  • ability to safely perform inspection tasks while wearing required safety equipment
  • ability to handle physical demands such as standing for extended periods, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, climbing ladders and carrying weight up to 45 lb

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience in the industry
  • minimum 3 years as Inspector 1/Inspector 2 or similar experience at previous inspection company
  • approval of AmSpec training department for suitability at Inspector 3 position
  • preferred IFIA certification
  • ability to read, write and communicate in English
  • strong leadership and mentoring skills
  • excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • advanced math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units
  • mid-level to advanced computer skills in word processing and spreadsheets

Job Duties

  • Perform all levels of inspection and sampling work in the field according to industry and customer requirements, including physical measurement of product, obtaining temperatures of product, sampling of product, calculations of volume
  • function as trainer for Inspector 1 and Inspector 2 employees to determine their potential for advancement to Inspector 3 level and make recommendations to management regarding suitability
  • be completely familiar with and follow all American Petroleum Institute (API) and IFIA procedures as well as customer and company policies and requirements
  • perform complex overall voyage and other analyses to identify areas of concern, unexplained losses and/or gains of product, delays and other issues and report to supervisor and customers as instructed
  • issue required documentation protecting company and customer interests
  • carry out all assigned tasks according to industry standards and instructions from supervisor
  • maintain communication with office staff and update them of any plan changes
  • prepare and distribute field reports to vessels, terminals, and the office
  • calibrate and maintain advanced inspection equipment
  • properly identify and transport samples obtained during inspections
  • perform other similar tasks assigned by supervisor
