The Inside Sales Representative position at the Baton Rouge, LA retail shop is a full-time, daytime role scheduled Monday through Friday. The role primarily focuses on selling a variety of products including medical, industrial, and specialty gases, welding equipment, hard goods, and assorted tools. Candidates in this role will manage customer interactions that arise through phone and in-person visits while providing warehouse support duties. This job requires collaboration with Account Managers to ensure high levels of customer service and operational efficiency.

In this role, the Inside Sales Representative actively participates in various critical sales tasks. These include selling industrial gases and welding equipment, handling cash transactions, utilizing computer systems for sales data entry and customer information research, managing inventory and showroom displays, developing strong customer relationships, and supporting outside sales representatives. This position requires candidates to possess a high school diploma or equivalent as a minimum, with an Associate’s degree preferred. Candidates must have at least two years of customer service or sales experience and proficiency in Microsoft or Google applications. Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred. Physical requirements include the ability to lift between 25 and 75 pounds routinely and heavier weights with aid. Safety is paramount, and candidates must adhere to OSHA regulations and Airgas safety programs. Forklift certification or the ability to acquire it, along with knowledge of welding, gases, and industrial safety supplies, are preferred qualifications.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two years of customer service and/or sales experience
  • Bilingual in Spanish (fluent in speaking, writing, and reading) strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft/Google applications
  • Ability to accurately handle cash transactions
  • Ability to routinely lift 25 - 75 lbs and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 125 pounds with material handling equipment
  • Adherence to Airgas safety programs, OSHA, and all related rules, regulations, and procedures applicable to the position

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Sell industrial gases, welding equipment, power, and hand tools to customers
  • Operate the cash register and enter sales data into the computer system
  • Research information for customers using the computer system
  • Stock inventory and maintain showroom displays
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships
  • Provide support for field sales representatives
  • Manage customer inquiries and concerns via phone and in-person visits
