Job Description
The Biltmore Company is a premier heritage attraction located in Asheville, North Carolina, steeped in history and known for its exceptional hospitality and luxury guest experiences. As one of America’s most renowned estates, the Biltmore offers visitors an unmatched atmosphere combining natural beauty, architectural grandeur, and world-class service. This dedicated company prides itself on maintaining a high standard of excellence in all guest services, particularly in food and beverage operations. The Biltmore is committed to providing unique and memorable experiences through its multiple dining venues, including the Library Lounge, AM Dining, PM Dining, and In-Room Dining. Each location upholds the prestigious Forbes 4-Star rating standards, underscoring the quality and sophistication guests can expect during their visit.
The Dining Room Supervisor role at Biltmore involves critical supervision of the “Front of House” dining operations across these various venues, ensuring smooth, effective service and a premium dining atmosphere. This position is primarily flex-time, requiring 20 to 29 hours per week, roughly translating to 1,000 to 1,559 hours annually. The starting pay for this flex position is $19.44 per hour, with the potential for adjustments based on the applicant’s qualifications and relevant experience. This job demands weekend and holiday availability to meet the needs of the estate’s busy and dynamic environment.
As a crucial leader within the food and beverage team, the Dining Room Supervisor is responsible for executing and continuously maintaining the Biltmore’s core service and management philosophies. This includes ensuring that all standards are consistently met or exceeded. The supervisor leads daily operations, manages staff scheduling, assists with hiring and performance management, and plays a pivotal role in training and developing team members. A strong emphasis is placed on guest service recovery, staff empowerment, and fostering a positive and professional workplace culture. Additionally, the supervisor acts as the “Manager on Duty” when the Restaurant Manager is absent, requiring excellent judgment and decision-making skills.
The role also includes duties such as overseeing opening and closing procedures, facilitating clear communication between front and back of house, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of all food and beverage products, menu items, special group events, VIPs, and estate activities. There is an expectation for proactive support to both staff and leadership to ensure the facility, service, and overall guest experience meet the renowned Biltmore and Forbes standards. In certain cases, supervisors will provide bartending support during peak business hours or when a bartender is unavailable, necessitating extensive knowledge of cocktails and mixology techniques.
Overall, the Dining Room Supervisor position is ideal for motivated hospitality professionals who are passionate about delivering excellent guest service, leading and developing teams, and working in a prestigious, fast-paced environment. Candidates will find opportunities to contribute significantly to the estate’s ongoing success and uphold its reputation as a world-class destination.
