The college prides itself on being a convenient, innovative, and visionary educational leader striving to maintain affordability and accessibility for all its students. Offering more than 140 majors and programs, Kirkwood serves approximately 16,000 annual college-credit students and maintains one of the lowest tuition rates in the state of Iowa. In addition, the college provides access to federal financial aid and awards more than $3 million in scholarships annually to students from diverse backgrounds, enabling them to pursue their academic and career goals successfully.
The Operations Division at Kirkwood Community College actively supports the Equestrian Center's mission by offering well-maintained facilities and efficient event management services. The College is currently seeking a dedicated part-time IEC Technician to join the Equestrian Center team. This position offers $13.22 per hour and involves a schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, with a preferred minimum commitment of 15 hours per week and a mandatory availability of at least 4 hours on Mondays between 8 am and 8 pm.
The IEC Technician plays a crucial role in preparing the facility for various equestrian shows and events, ensuring smooth operation and a welcoming environment for all rental clients, both internal and external. Responsibilities encompass setting up and dismantling portable stalls, operating equipment such as tractors, skid steers, and forklifts, coordinating event details, and providing guest services during events. Additionally, the role demands organizational skills to maintain accurate records, process paperwork, and facilitate invoicing aligned with contractual obligations. The technician is also tasked with supporting maintenance efforts by participating in routine and preventative maintenance activities, submitting work orders for repairs, and assisting with minor facility projects such as stall and fence repairs.
Working at the Equestrian Center requires an individual who is personable, proactive, and detail-oriented, capable of multitasking in a dynamic environment where interruptions are common. Candidates must possess excellent customer service skills, a positive and team-oriented attitude, and be willing to represent Kirkwood Community College in a professional, courteous manner at all times. Physical demands include moderate lifting, frequent stooping, bending, and occasional kneeling. Furthermore, the technician must complete essential safety training programs, including Blood Borne Pathogens and CPR/First Aid, to ensure compliance with college safety protocols.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in the equine industry, event management, and facilities operations within an educational setting dedicated to excellence and continual improvement.
