The Ice Cream Batcher at Clementine's plays a crucial role in the production team, responsible for creating various ice cream flavors and dessert products. This full-time hourly position operates primarily during day shifts and involves hands-on engagement in batch production, packaging, and maintaining detailed records. The Ice Cream Batcher must be proficient in measuring ingredients accurately using digital scales and adhering strictly to approved recipes and procedures. This role requires a strong attention to detail to ensure all ice cream batches are produced consistently and safely.

A key aspect of the position is maintaining cleanliness and meeting FDA-mandated sanitation standards within the production environment. The Ice Cream Batcher works with various manufacturing equipment, including ice cream freezers, industrial blenders, pumps, and cleaning systems. This role also demands collaboration with other team members in a fast-paced setting, supporting the overall ice cream production process by assisting with filling, labeling, and kitchen duties as needed.

Additionally, the Ice Cream Batcher is responsible for maintaining comprehensive food safety records, including production logs in compliance with FSMA regulations. These records include cleaning logs, temperature checks, equipment inspections, and sanitation documentation. Quality control is integral to the role, requiring tasting, smelling, and inspecting ingredients and finished products to uphold Clementine's high standards. The ideal candidate must be capable of performing physical tasks such as lifting weights of up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, climbing step stools, and tolerating temperature fluctuations due to freezer and cooler environments.

Job Requirements

  • 1-2 years kitchen or food manufacturing experience preferred
  • lift 30 lbs. constantly
  • lift 50 lbs. occasionally and comfortably
  • remain standing for the majority of the shift
  • stoop and reach
  • must be 18 years of age or older
  • ability to strictly follow recipes, standards, and procedures while adhering to safety and sanitation rules
  • must have basic math skills
  • tolerate abrupt and significant changes in temperature, due to frequent interaction with freezers and coolers
  • ability to taste, smell, and distinguish colors and flavors
  • must be able to climb step stools of varying heights
  • ability to handle products and ingredients that include milk, egg, peanut, tree nut, soy, and/or wheat
  • must have the ability to read, write and speak English
  • reliable means of transportation to and from production facility

Job Duties

  • Batch, produce, and package ice cream per approved recipes and procedures
  • measure ingredients accurately and record all data for traceability
  • measure inclusions for ice cream producing and record all data for traceability
  • manage inventory levels and report when ingredients are needed
  • maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards to FDA standards
  • operate a digital scale to measure ingredients accurately
  • collaborate with team members in a fast-paced environment
  • must be comfortable learning and operating manufacturing equipment including ice cream freezers, industrial sized blenders, pumps, COP system
  • maintain food safety records
  • quality check ingredients and finished ice cream for everything produced
  • operate confectionery and baking equipment including knives, steam kettles, chocolate melter, mixers, blenders, cake slicer
  • accurately enter yields and lots #’s into inventory system
  • responsible for maintaining ice cream production logbooks for FSMA including cleaning logbooks, temperature logbooks, equipment checks and sanitation records
  • support the ice cream production team by stepping in to ice cream production, filling pints, labeling, and helping in the kitchen as needed
