Job Description

Idaho Central Arena has been a cornerstone of downtown Boise's vibrant sports and entertainment scene since its opening in the fall of 1997. Over the past two decades, this multi-purpose arena has hosted an array of diverse events, welcoming an impressive 5.4 million attendees in just 19 years. As the proud home of the Idaho Steelhead hockey team and the Front Street Fights mixed martial arts brand, Idaho Central Arena has established itself as a premier venue for sports enthusiasts and entertainment seekers alike. Beyond hockey and MMA, the arena has showcased a variety of sporting events, including basketball, arena football, indoor soccer, Motocross, and gymnastics, all contributing to its dynamic atmosphere. Additionally, the arena frequently serves as a stage for concerts, trade shows, and conventions, playing a pivotal role in Boise's cultural and social fabric. With an average of 100 events hosted annually, Idaho Central Arena remains a buzzing hub of activity and engagement in the heart of downtown Boise.

We are seeking dedicated Fry Cooks and Prep Cooks to join our culinary team and support our mission of delivering memorable food experiences to our guests. These roles are essential to the smooth operation of our concession stands and food service areas during events. The Fry Cook position focuses on preparing a variety of fried menu items, such as french fries, chicken tenders, and onion rings, ensuring consistency and quality through precise cooking techniques and strict adherence to health and safety standards. The role requires someone who can efficiently manage fryer equipment, monitor cooking times, and maintain cleanliness and safety standards in a busy kitchen environment.

The Prep Cook position is a vital supporting role assisting with food preparation tasks, including chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, preparing sauces, and maintaining an organized and sanitary workstation. Prep Cooks help ensure that all ingredients are fresh and ready for use, supporting overall kitchen efficiency and quality. Both positions require teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not always required, as training may be provided
  • Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality dishes
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects when needed

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook a range of fried foods such as french fries, chicken tenders, onion rings, and other items as per the menu
  • Set up and maintain fryer equipment, ensuring proper temperature and oil levels for consistent results
  • Bread and batter food items according to established recipes and quality standards
  • Monitor cooking times to ensure that fried items are cooked to perfection and maintain quality control
  • Keep track of inventory and notify the kitchen manager when supplies are running low
  • Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines to prevent accidents and maintain cleanliness in the fryer station
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth food service during busy periods
  • Adhere to portion sizes and presentation standards for all fried menu items
  • Clean and maintain fryer equipment, ensuring it remains in optimal working condition
  • Assist with food preparation tasks such as chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, and preparing sauces
  • Wash, peel, and cut vegetables and fruits
  • Measure and assemble ingredients according to recipes and menu specifications
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, including proper storage of ingredients and utensils
  • Assist with receiving, inspecting, and storing food deliveries, ensuring quality and freshness
  • Help with inventory management by restocking ingredients and notifying the kitchen manager of any shortages
  • Follow proper food safety and hygiene practices, including handwashing and wearing appropriate protective gear
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely preparation of menu items
  • Clean and sanitize work areas and equipment regularly to meet sanitation standards
