The Project Leader position at Johnson Controls is a vital role responsible for independently managing on-site projects that involve hardware design, system programming, installation oversight, commissioning, and project closeout with assigned customers. This role demands strong leadership to ensure projects are completed safely, timely, and within budget, while maintaining high standards of quality and customer satisfaction. Reporting to management, the Project Leader oversees all aspects of project execution, including financial outcomes such as costs, billing, and collections. They also ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations, along with Johnson Controls’ stringent safety policies. The role involves coordinating diverse teams including subcontractors, technicians, electricians, and designers to successfully execute system installations that span access control, fire safety, video surveillance, and HVAC control systems. With a focus on proactive change order management and effective communication, the Project Leader plays a critical role in expanding project scope and ensuring all stakeholders are aligned throughout the project lifecycle.

Johnson Controls offers competitive compensation ranging from $60,000 to $105,000 based on experience, education, and location. Job Requirements

  • Technical associate's degree with four years of field experience or six years equivalent related field experience
  • Applicable Access Control, Fire, Video, and/or systems design and commissioning experience
  • Appropriate licensing, certifications, and relevant hands-on experience
  • Ability to perform work independently
  • Strong personal computer skills
  • Knowledge of project accounting, costing principles, and contracting preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Technical associate's degree or equivalent field experience
  • Relevant experience in Access Control, Fire, Video, and/or systems design and commissioning
  • Appropriate licensing and certifications
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong personal computer skills
  • Knowledge of project accounting and costing principles preferred

Job Duties

  • Plan, execute, and complete projects safely and cost-effectively
  • Delegate and perform tasks including hardware design, system programming, installation coordination, system and network commissioning, and project closeout
  • Manage overall financial results including costs, billings, and collections
  • Maintain customer satisfaction and ensure project profitability
  • Pursue change orders and additional work opportunities
  • Coordinate communication with customers throughout project phases
  • Provide work direction to subcontractors, technicians, and designers
