The Human Resources & Payroll Transitions Team at Baker Tilly plays a critical role within the company's Managed Services offering. This specialized team is responsible for assisting new clients in stabilizing their HR and payroll operations, implementing advanced cloud payroll systems, and designing scalable processes customized to client needs. The team focuses on project-based engagements aimed at setting clients up for long-term success before transitioning them to recurring service teams. The emphasis is on delivering smooth, effective onboarding and implementation experiences that modernize the clients' payroll operations and enhance overall business efficiency.
The role of Payroll Project Manager within this team is ideal for payroll professionals who enjoy leading projects, working closely with clients, and utilizing technology to improve financial operations. The position requires a balance of HR and payroll expertise, strong project leadership skills, and proficiency with technology solutions used in payroll systems. In this role, the incumbent leads client onboarding from kickoff through transition to ongoing support teams, acting as the primary contact responsible for managing project scope, timelines, budgets, and deliverables. The position demands the implementation and optimization of cloud payroll platforms such as QuickBooks Online Payroll and various ADP Payroll Platforms including RUN, Workforce Now, and Lyric. Integration of third-party tools like APS connectors and insurance benefits connections also forms a key part of the job.
Additionally, the Payroll Project Manager is expected to identify risks, resolve issues swiftly, and continuously drive process improvements that enhance client satisfaction and operational effectiveness. This role involves consistent communication with clients, providing regular project status updates, and ensuring all deliverables meet high-quality standards. Baker Tilly values candidates with a proactive mindset who can navigate challenges, multitask effectively, and collaborate with stakeholders across all organizational levels, from staff to C-suite executives. This role offers a dynamic work environment that combines professional growth with the opportunity to make a significant impact on clients' payroll and HR technology transformations.
