The position of House Attendant within Sonesta International Hotels plays a pivotal support role in the Housekeeping Department. Working under the guidance of the Housekeeping Management Team, the House Attendant assists Room Attendants by handling essential tasks on assigned floors or buildings, including collecting and transporting dirty linens to the laundry area and delivering clean linens back to the Room Attendant carts. This role also involves retrieving trash throughout the hotel property to ensure cleanliness and sanitation standards are consistently met.

Additionally, House Attendants support commercial laundry functions to maintain timely and effective handling of linens, as well as help clean public areas, exterior entrances, and parking lots when required. They may be assigned special projects by the Housekeeping Manager, contributing to operational efficiency and guest satisfaction. This role is vital in maintaining overall cleanliness and order within the hotel, directly impacting the guest experience and satisfaction ratings.

Job Requirements

  • Some previous housekeeping experience
  • ability to stand, bend, climb, kneel, and move frequently
  • capability to lift or carry up to 75 pounds
  • regular use of commercial cleaning chemicals
  • availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Some previous housekeeping experience preferred
  • previous background in extended stay industry preferred
  • ability to speak, read, and write fluent English preferred
  • other languages beneficial
  • basic reading, writing and mathematical skills preferred

Job Duties

  • Deliver on the promise of Sonesta Service in all guest and client interactions according to Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards
  • work with Room Attendants to handle heavy items such as mattresses and linens
  • deliver linens and other supplies to Room Attendants
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of floor closets and corridors including removing trash, wiping shelves and counters, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming floors
  • respond to guest requests in a timely and efficient manner
  • clean public restrooms, storage rooms, and other designated public areas
  • report needed repairs or unsafe conditions to supervisor
  • respond to special requests and guest complaints to achieve guest satisfaction
  • minimize waste of housekeeping supplies and amenities
  • deliver lost and found items per established procedures
  • assist with deep cleaning projects
  • monitor and operate laundry supplies and equipment ensuring proper function
  • fold and store clean linens and report damages
  • promote teamwork and quality service through communication with other shifts and management
  • ensure compliance with health and safety laws
  • perform other duties as assigned
