Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Four years of experience in building or institutional housekeeping/custodial work
- Two years of supervisory experience
- Ability to occasionally lift/carry 40 pounds
- Ability to push and pull a maximum force of 25 pounds
- Successful completion of a physical examination upon conditional offer
- Willingness to work in a state institution or similar facility
- Must comply with safety-sensitive position requirements if applicable
- Must be able to work during inclement weather as essential personnel
- Eligible to work in the United States
Job Qualifications
- Four years of experience in building or institutional housekeeping/custodial work
- Two years of supervisory experience
- Ability to plan, inspect, and supervise the work of employees
- Knowledge of housekeeping principles and practices
- Familiarity with stock control and inventory methods
- Understanding of cleaning compounds and insect/vermin control solutions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to analyze situations and adopt effective courses of action
- Experience in policy development and implementation
- Ability to maintain records and prepare reports
Job Duties
- Sweep, dust, mop, scrub, wash, vacuum, wax, and polish building floors, walls, woodwork, windows, furniture, equipment, and hardware
- Clean and sanitize laboratories, washrooms, and bedrooms, keep washrooms supplied with paper, towels, and soap
- Collect and dispose of trash and garbage
- move equipment and furniture such as beds, tables, and chairs
- Perform sanitary inspections in designated areas for infection control
- Replace and remove medically contaminated sharps and/or medically soiled and contaminated dressings and supplies
- Order and distribute custodial supplies
- maintain inventory
- Observe and report safety violations
- actively participate in emergency situations
- Assist in training and continued education of lower-level workers
- Plan, assign, and supervise all functions of a housekeeping department
- Inspect quarters for maintenance of proper housekeeping standards
- Supervise and maintain records of the distribution of furnishings
- Maintain necessary records
