Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to follow detailed cleaning protocols
  • physical ability to perform cleaning tasks including lifting and bending
  • availability to work evening shifts, weekends and holidays
  • willingness to comply with hospital policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • Successful completion of general and department specific orientation
  • previous hospital housekeeping experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Arrange furniture for meetings, workshops and community affairs
  • assist in cleaning emergency spills observed or upon request
  • clean housekeeping closet and maintain par levels
  • collect and transport all waste including regulated medical waste according to policy
  • compact trash or place in containers
  • damp buff and shampoo carpets with approved equipment
  • dry and wet mop floors of rooms and offices
  • dust mop and wet mop corridors, stairwells and other common areas
  • empty waste receptacles and remove trash
  • maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and coordinate repairs when needed
  • observe and report the need to repair equipment, furniture, building and fixtures
  • perform patient discharge cleaning using 7-step cleaning procedure
  • refill paper towels, toilet paper, soap and toilet seat dispensers
  • ensure all patient rooms are patient ready at all times with tent cards, toilet seat bands and privacy curtains in place
