The role currently available is for a Housekeeper, a vital position within the community responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for residents and staff. This position is temporary and operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, making it an ideal fit for individuals seeking structured daytime work hours. The Housekeeper’s responsibilities span a range of cleaning duties, including routine maintenance of apartment homes, common areas, lounges, and offices. This includes sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and spot cleaning floors and carpets, as well as cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, kitchens, and other facility areas. The role also involves handling community laundry services and ensuring that all cleaning equipment and chemicals are properly stored and maintained.

The Housekeeper is expected to adhere strictly to safety standards, keeping work areas hazard-free and reporting any maintenance or supply needs. This position demands physical stamina and mobility, as it requires standing, walking, lifting, and other physical activities to fulfill the duties effectively. Effective communication skills and a courteous demeanor are critical, as the Housekeeper regularly interacts with residents, guests, and fellow staff members, contributing to the warm, welcoming atmosphere that defines Provincial Senior Living communities.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous housekeeping experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents
  • Ability to read and interpret safety and instruction documents
  • Interest in working with seniors
  • Ability to perform physical duties including standing, walking, lifting, and reaching
  • Availability Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Temporary employment status

Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous housekeeping experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the primary language of residents
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Demonstrates interest in working with a senior population
  • Courteous and friendly interaction with guests, residents, and staff
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, use hands, and reach with arms regularly
  • Capable of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling frequently
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Visual abilities including close and color vision

Job Duties

  • Performs cleaning duties according to schedule in assigned areas such as apartment homes, common areas, lounges and offices
  • Sweeps, dusts, dust mops, and wet mops all floors and stairways
  • Spot cleans and vacuums floors, rugs, carpets and runners
  • Rotates runners in hallways and entryways
  • Cleans, sanitizes, and polishes lavatory, shower and sink fixtures and facilities
  • Stocks dispensers as necessary
  • Scrubs bath and shower room tiles, woodwork, window frames, and sills
  • Maintains equipment and materials in clean and orderly condition
  • Collects trash and refuse and places in designated pick-up areas
  • Collects, cleans and redistributes community laundry
  • Maintains commercial laundry cleanliness and sanitation
  • Stores cleaning chemicals securely when not in use
  • Keeps work areas hazard-free and complies with fire codes
  • Reports repairs and supply needs to Lead Housekeeper
  • Performs other duties as assigned
