The Housekeeping Supervisor position at the InterContinental Indianapolis is crucial for maintaining the high standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction for which the brand is known. Reporting to the Executive Housekeeper, the supervisor oversees the daily operations of the housekeeping department. This role involves effective supervision, coordination, and motivation of the housekeeping staff to ensure that all rooms, public areas, storage, and laundry rooms meet rigorous cleanliness and maintenance standards.
A key responsibility of the Housekeeping Supervisor is coordinating closely with the front desk to communicate room status, ensure guest needs are met, and enhance guest relations through exceptional service delivery. The supervisor ensures compliance with safety standards such as OSHA guidelines and MSDS protocols, guaranteeing a safe working environment for all team members. They also lead initiatives in cost control and payroll management and help in inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining adequate stock levels to support smooth operations.
Training and development of housekeeping attendants, public area attendants, and housepersons form an essential part of the role. The supervisor delivers ongoing training to ensure all team members adhere to housekeeping standards and excel in their roles, contributing to the overall guest experience. This leadership role requires a strong background in housekeeping with at least 2-3 years of experience in a high-volume hotel, conference center, or resort environment, including supervisory experience.

Job Requirements
- high school education, GED or equivalent experience
- minimum 2-3 years of experience working in housekeeping in a high-volume hotel, conference center or resort
- at least one year with supervisory role experience
- ability to follow safety protocols
- capability to train and manage staff effectively
- excellent communication skills
- attention to detail and commitment to quality

Job Duties
- controls, monitors and communicates room status with front desk
- practice safe work habits, follow MSDS and OSHA standards, wear protective safety equipment and participate in safety committees
- ensure quality services are rendered in meeting guest needs and enhance guest relations
- inspect, monitor and maintain cleanliness in rooms, storage areas, laundry, restrooms and public areas
- enforce standard procedures for acceptance, security and return of guest lost and found items
- assist in inventories of uniforms, linen, supplies and equipment and order and receive supplies
- provide ongoing training to room attendants, public area attendants and housepersons
- assist in cost control and payroll
