The Environmental Services Supervisor role at Capital Health is a full-time position with a scheduled 40-hour work week and a pay range of $22.20 to $28.86 per hour, reflecting compensation for a full-time equivalent role. This position plays a critical part in ensuring the safety functions within the department and facility comply with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory agency regulations. The supervisor demonstrates efficient and safe use of housekeeping equipment, overseeing smooth operations within the environmental services program to maintain the highest quality standards possible. They are also responsible for fostering positive public relations with all stakeholders, with a central focus on the hospital's patients.

This supervisory position requires attaining a high level of technical knowledge concerning the equipment, chemicals, and programs utilized within the department. The supervisor handles chemicals and cleaning supplies according to safety data sheets and standards, ensures that all labeling is accurate, and adheres to all pertinent safety regulations including those outlined by JCAHO and the facility. They are tasked with training and instructing employees on the proper use of new equipment and cleaning procedures, maintaining departmental programs, and overseeing daily operations. The supervisor also manages substandard equipment by removing unsafe items from service and coordinating timely repairs.

In addition to managing equipment and supplies, the Environmental Services Supervisor must adeptly handle interpersonal relationships within the organization, exercising discretion and judgment to resolve conflicts constructively. They serve as an important liaison across shifts, preparing and reviewing work schedules while ensuring adequate coverage at all times. Positive representation of the department to patients, visitors, and hospital personnel is essential, as is demonstrating a strong work ethic by proactively seeking additional responsibilities without being prompted.

Administratively, the supervisor ensures all reports and memos are well-written and submitted promptly, performs routine administrative duties including patient interviews and inspections, and manages employee performance evaluations. They provide ongoing training to staff regarding regulatory and facility requirements, demonstrating outstanding decision-making skills and inspiring confidence among subordinates and peers. Physical demands include tasks like sitting, standing, bending, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and navigating various environmental conditions.
