The role of the Housekeeping Supervisor at HHM is a pivotal position within the hotel’s operations team, directly impacting the quality of guest experience as well as the internal efficiency of housekeeping activities. As a Housekeeping Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing housekeeping staff to ensure that all brand and hotel guest service standards are met with consistency and professionalism. This involves training, scheduling, coaching, and motivating associates so that they perform effectively in line with HHM’s core values and operational standards. The supervisor will also handle administrative duties such as screening job applicants and participating in the hiring process when the housekeeping staff are HHM employees.

In addition to staff management, you will oversee the maintenance of cleanliness in guest rooms and public areas, occasionally stepping in to clean or assist with room preparation during busy periods. Efficient use and allocation of cleaning supplies and equipment are integral to the role, ensuring resources are used responsibly and in line with sustainability efforts. You will also play a key role in communicating guest service scores to housekeeping teams, driving improvements to enhance overall guest satisfaction.

The Housekeeping Supervisor will work closely with vendors and external partners to maintain high cleaning standards and manage vendor staff performance when applicable. Supervisory responsibilities extend to the laundry department where relevant, requiring a watchful eye over work schedules and occupancy projections to ensure optimal staffing levels at all times. A commitment to workplace safety is essential, with adherence to MSDS and OSHA standards through the use of protective safety equipment and safe work habits. The role may also occasionally require assistance in other hotel operations, such as supporting breakfast area functions.

Job Duties

  • Train, schedule, coach and support associates, ensuring they perform in accordance with established brand or hotel standards and consistent with HHM core values
  • Screen job applicants and hire new employees in the event housekeeping associates are HHM employees
  • Train staff to clean rooms in an efficient manner according to established standards or partner with external vendors to ensure staff is trained properly
  • Be aware of and communicate guest service scores to drive improvement and higher guest satisfaction
  • Issue cleaning supplies and equipment to associates
  • On occasion, clean rooms or assist staff with cleaning rooms
  • Address associate performance and behavior concerns by either direct intervention with HHM associates or through vendors
  • Supervise laundry employees, if applicable
  • Prepare work schedules for HHM associates or provide vendors with anticipated occupancy to ensure proper staffing levels
  • Follow sustainability guidelines and practices related to HHM’s EarthView program
  • Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards
  • Assist in the breakfast area as needed
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction
  • Perform other duties as requested by management
