The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the housekeeping functions within assigned sections of the hotel, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and efficiency. This role involves inspecting the daily work of room attendants, ensuring that all operational standards and productivity levels are met consistently. The supervisor also assumes managerial duties in the absence of the Housekeeping Manager or Assistant Manager, taking responsibility for VIP room inspections and reporting availability to the front office in compliance with hotel protocols.
Additional responsibilities include monitoring housekeeping equipment, managing lost and found items, coordinating daily assignments, and maintaining communication across departments via pager or radio. The supervisor plays an essential role in initiating and following up on maintenance requests, ensuring that all repair work does not impede guest satisfaction or operational flow. Training new housekeeping staff is another critical duty, as is participating in cleaning projects and occasionally stepping in to clean guest rooms during peak business needs.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two to three years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Ability to stand for entire shift
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Service-oriented and courteous attitude

Job Duties
- Inspect room attendant’s work performance within assigned section on a daily basis to ensure standards and productivity levels are met and maintained
- In the absence of the Housekeeping Manager or Assistant Housekeeping Manager, inspect all VIP rooms and report availability to the front office according to hotel standards
- Oversee the closing of floors at the end of the day, ensuring room attendants’ carts are clean and restocked
- Ensure records of daily assignments are completed, signed off, and turned into the housekeeping office on time
- Maintain key control
- Handle items for lost and found according to standards
- Monitor cleanliness and orderliness of room attendants’ carts, linen closets, control closets, stairways, and landings
- Oversee daily assignment of duties, ensuring room attendants and house attendants carry a work assignment
- Carry an active pager/radio to maintain contact with front office and/or engineering throughout shift
- Report on progress of all out-of-order rooms under housekeeping supervision to the guest services manager
- Initiate work orders for repairs and maintenance and follow through until completion
- Assist with training of housekeeping staff
- May be required to clean rooms as business needs dictate
- Ensure completion of cleaning projects on a biannual basis
- Ensure overall guest satisfaction
