The role of the Housekeeping Supervisor at UMMC Jackson MOBs is pivotal in maintaining these standards by supporting the assistant director/director of housekeeping through effective administration of housekeeping services. This full-time or part-time position, with an hourly pay rate of $16, is available across various shifts including day, evening, and night, making it accessible to a diverse range of applicants. The supervisor is responsible for overseeing the environmental services (EVS) team, ensuring all cleaning duties are executed efficiently and consistently throughout the hospital areas. The Housekeeping Supervisor acts as a leader and mentor for team members by assigning tasks, managing supplies, and performing daily inspections to uphold quality control programs. Additionally, the supervisor handles administrative responsibilities such as assisting with payroll and maintaining operational efficiency of the department. They play a hands-on role by stepping in to clean areas when necessary, ensuring that no part of the facility is neglected. Adherence to HHS cleaning procedures and best practices is mandatory, maintaining a standardized approach to facility cleanliness.   • able to stand, walk, squat, bend, twist, kneel, and reach continuously throughout a shift
  • able to push and pull carts or equipment over 100 lb on tile and carpeted floors
  • able to handle chemicals including bleach, wax, and disinfectants
  • able to operate equipment necessary to perform essential functions of the job

Job Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • communicate effectively in English and work well in a team environment
  • must practice good personal hygiene, be neatly groomed, and be in uniform
  • GED or high school diploma
  • experience as a supervisor preferred
  • preferred housekeeping experience including cleaning, environmental services, custodian, janitorial, room attendant, floor care technician, hotel operations, healthcare

Job Duties

  • Oversee team members and assign cleaning duties to ensure coverage of all areas
  • perform daily inspections and maintain quality control programs
  • manage supplies and ensure team members have the equipment necessary to complete job assignments
  • assist with payroll and administrative duties as assigned
  • assist with cleaning areas of the hospital as needed to ensure full coverage
  • follow all HHS cleaning procedures and best practices
  • provide friendly and kind service to all individuals in the hospital
  • assist team members and management as needed to help the department operate efficiently
