The Housekeeping role at Aulani is crucial in maintaining the high standards of cleanliness, orderliness, and comfort that guests expect during their stay. This position mainly focuses on cleaning and maintaining guest rooms throughout the resort, ensuring all spaces reflect the warmth and welcoming spirit of Aulani. A housekeeper is responsible for a variety of cleaning tasks, including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, balconies, furniture, windows, and art décor. They also regularly change linens, replace amenities, and add special touches that enhance the guest experience. Housekeepers work diligently to clean approximately 14 rooms daily, which includes vacuuming, dusting, folding towels, and deep cleaning on scheduled days. There is an emphasis on attention to detail and maintaining a high level of professionalism even when performing repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Job Requirements

  • Must be available for a minimum of 3 full days of availability including weekends for part-time
  • Must be available to work up to 40 hours per week during training period
  • Must be available 7 days a week up to 40 hours for full-time
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment
  • Willingness to get dirty and clean others' messes
  • Must be comfortable working alone in guest rooms for most of the shift
  • Ability to follow procedures and ergonomic principles, some requiring specialized training
  • Must use personal protective equipment and cleaning tools safely

Job Qualifications

  • Flexible and adaptable, able to work in various areas and conditions with changing start and end times
  • Proactive with the ability to immediately communicate concerns and react to situations
  • Willing to use personal protective equipment, hand tools, power equipment, disinfectants, degreasing chemicals, and cleaning products
  • Enthusiastic about helping and interacting with guests
  • Self-directed and capable of maintaining quality while completing repetitious tasks
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, goal-driven environment
  • Enjoys cleaning
  • Previous experience in cleaning environments is preferred
  • Previous experience in self-directed roles requiring minimal supervision is an advantage
  • Knowledge of Hawaiian or Japanese language is preferred

Job Duties

  • Clean and maintain approximately 14 guest rooms per day including making beds, cleaning bathrooms, and dusting furniture
  • Change bedding including bed sacks, blankets, duvet covers, and inserts on specified days
  • Vacuum and edge carpets including underneath furniture and remove carpet spots
  • Clean and touch up windows, walls, and baseboards
  • Clean patios, balconies, walls, floors, and furniture
  • Fold towels with special attention to detail such as towel folding techniques and crimping toilet paper and tissues
  • Clean entrance area of rooms including front and back doors and surrounding walls
  • Replace amenities in guest rooms
  • Change shower liners, shower curtains, and bed pads
  • Replace glasses, mugs, and carafes including cleaning coffee filters
  • Change iron board covers as needed
  • Stock carts and baskets and take inventory of amenities, linen, and terry needed for room replenishment
  • Perform deep cleaning of entire rooms and bathrooms on scheduled days
  • Carry out nightly turndown duties for VIP level and specified guests
