Job Description
Sonesta International Hotels is one of the largest and fastest-growing hotel companies in the United States, ranking as the eighth largest in the nation. Established with a strong commitment to hospitality, Sonesta offers a dynamic blend of full-service and focused hotels across major cities, boasting a diverse portfolio of owned, managed, and franchised properties. With over 1,000 locations spanning eight countries, Sonesta delivers consistent quality, value, and memorable experiences that connect with guests on a personal level. This expansive network allows Sonesta to be present wherever travelers want to be, making it a household name in the hospitality industry.
As a company, Sonesta prides itself on its human-centered approach to hospitality, emphasizing service delivered with passion and loyalty. Their mission is to bring unparalleled service to every guest, every stay, and to cultivate a working environment where employees thrive through teamwork and shared purpose. Sonesta is dedicated to innovation and excellence, constantly evolving to meet the needs of its clientele while fostering a welcoming atmosphere for both guests and associates.
The role offered is that of a Room Attendant (RA), a vital position within the Housekeeping Department. The Room Attendant works closely with the Housekeeping Management Team to maintain high cleanliness and sanitation standards in guest rooms, public spaces, and sometimes in the commercial laundry facilities. This role is essential in ensuring the overall guest experience is positive, comfortable, and up to the brand’s quality standards. The Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning and servicing assigned areas, handling customer requests and complaints with care, and adhering to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. service standards, which underscore guest satisfaction and quality service.
In this position, attention to detail and a commitment to safety are paramount. The Room Attendant operates cleaning equipment and uses commercial cleaning chemicals while observing all health and safety regulations. Duties also include reporting any maintenance or repair needs, assisting with deep cleaning projects, and managing lost and found items following company protocols. Given the physically demanding nature of the role, Room Attendants should be capable of standing for long periods, bending, lifting up to 75 pounds, and working flexible hours including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Employment type for this position is typically full-time or part-time with pay ranging from $14 to $15 per hour, making it a competitive wage within the hospitality industry for entry-level to experienced housekeeping staff. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a reputable and growing company recognized for its dedication to employee benefits and professional growth.
Sonesta also provides comprehensive benefits which include medical, dental, and vision insurance, a health savings account with company match, 401(k) retirement plans with company match, paid vacation and sick days, and educational assistance, among others. These benefits signify the company’s commitment to the health and financial security of its team members and their families. Employees can also enjoy Sonesta hotel discounts, paid parental leave, company-paid life insurance, disability insurance, and a variety of employee perks and discounts, which further enhance the employment experience.
Joining Sonesta as a Room Attendant means becoming part of a diverse and inclusive workforce that values equality, respect, and opportunity. The company is an equal opportunity employer that considers qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristic. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess a strong work ethic and a desire to contribute to exceptional hospitality standards.
