The role of Housekeeping and Laundry team member at EDITION Hotels is essential to sustaining the exceptional standard of cleanliness and comfort expected by guests. This position involves entering the status of cleaned rooms, completing control lists to report on the cleanliness and condition of assigned areas, and ensuring that all paperwork required by the housekeeping department is accurately filled out. The employee will identify room assignments and the type of cleaning necessary for each, inspect guest rooms after they have been cleaned by housekeeping staff, and promptly respond to requests from guests and other departments. Accessing guest rooms must be done following established protocols to ensure privacy and safety, verifying the room is unoccupied before entry. This position also includes assisting management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, advising, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees, setting a positive example for the team.
Safety and professionalism are critical components of this role. The team member must adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, report maintenance issues, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries, and complete all required safety training and certifications. Maintaining a clean and professional uniform and appearance is mandatory, as is protecting company information and property. Team collaboration and respect among coworkers are central values, with a focus on supporting one another to achieve common goals. The standards of quality assurance must be consistently met, involving physical tasks such as lifting, moving, and handling objects up to 55 pounds without assistance and heavier items with assistance. The role requires physical agility to move in confined spaces, navigate stairs and uneven surfaces, and perform manual dexterity tasks. Communication skills are important for responding appropriately to employee issues and interacting clearly and professionally with others.
Candidates for this position should have at least a high school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) certificate and a minimum of one year of related work experience. Although supervisory experience is not required, the ability to assist management in various personnel functions is essential. There are no certifications or licenses required for this job.
