Job Requirements
- Some high school required
- 0-1 years related work experience required
- Basic familiarity with computers
- Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications
- Ability to make decisions based on specific instructions, standard practices and established procedures
- Ability to address routine and repetitive problems by following directions
- Ability to follow general instructions and procedures
- Ability to read and write in English
- Ability to understand spoken English
- Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of fundamental concepts and practices
- Ability to interact respectfully with employees and external contacts
- Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude and respond timely and respectfully to requests
- Medium work requiring exertion up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently
- Ability to stand and move throughout the shift
Job Qualifications

- Ability to read and write in English to understand safety instructions and communicate effectively with patients, families and staff
- Ability to follow general instructions and procedures
- Knowledge of fundamental cleaning concepts and procedures
- Ability to interact respectfully and positively with team members and customers
Job Duties
- Perform multiple step cleaning procedures including daily cleaning and discharge cleaning
- Continue work from previous shift and report incomplete assignments and maintenance issues
- Perform dry and wet mopping of common areas using appropriate equipment including floor care machines
- Respond to stat orders such as discharges, spills, floods and hospital-wide emergency drills
- Clean organic body waste and patient equipment including IV poles, commodes, monitors, specialty equipment, stretchers and wheelchairs
- Collect and seal solid and contaminated waste and deliver to designated compactor areas
- Use department procedures to prepare and select cleaning solutions and maintain housekeeping cart cleanliness and stock
- Report hazards, malfunctions and supply shortages to supervisor or team leader
- Adhere to infection control, safety and environmental policies and participate in training and disaster drills
- Assist in moves, special set-ups and other occasions as needed
