Job Description

This role offers a part-time position in the Environmental Services department within Advocate Health's leased employee division. The position, with a weekly schedule of 24 hours, primarily involves cleaning and maintaining patient care and surgical areas, public and private restrooms, offices, lobbies, conference rooms, stairwells, and elevators. The shifts occur Monday through Friday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, including every other weekend from 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm, as well as holidays. The pay range offered is between $18.85 and $28.30, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The Environmental Services Technician plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment to support patient care and hospital operations. Responsibilities include cleaning all environmental surfaces such as ceilings, walls, furniture, beds, bathroom fixtures, vents, and windows. The technician assists in cleaning emergency spills and performs dusting and damp mopping throughout patient rooms, exam rooms, corridors, stairwells, and restrooms to ensure hygiene standards are met. They are also responsible for replacing cubicle and window coverings, gathering and disposing of recyclables, trash, and medical waste in compliance with infection control guidelines, and sorting, stocking, and delivering linens.
This role involves preparing dismissal and transfer units, maintaining certain equipment, filling and cleaning supply dispensers, and managing inventories of linens, cleaning supplies, and paper supplies efficiently and cost-effectively. The technician reports mechanical failures or unsafe conditions to supervisors promptly to ensure a safe work environment. Candidates must have the ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively, work independently, and prioritize tasks while maintaining excellent customer service. They are expected to adhere strictly to department policies to avoid operational disruptions. Basic computer skills are valued, and physical demands include lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, kneeling, and standing for prolonged periods. The role requires familiarity with handling infectious and hazardous waste safely and the operation of relevant cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, buffers, automatic scrubbers, and stepladders.

Job Duties
