In this context, the Porter / Floor Technician role within the Environmental Services team is essential to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. This position plays a direct role in enhancing the comfort, safety, and overall quality of life for residents, visitors, and staff at Lorien Mount Airy. The role involves daily floor care services, cleaning of common areas such as bathrooms and lobbies, managing trash collection, restocking supplies, and using equipment to scrub, polish, and shampoo flooring. Adhering to strict safety and health guidelines is critical to this position, ensuring a hygienic and secure environment.

Offered as a full-time employment opportunity, this role starts with a competitive salary beginning at $16.00 per hour. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior experience in a similar role preferred
  • Ability to work a schedule of 7a-3:30p
  • Availability to work every other weekend including Saturday and Sunday
  • Must be able to follow safety protocols and procedures
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and materials
  • Strong communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in custodial or janitorial roles is an advantage
  • Ability to operate floor care equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
  • Good physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality

Job Duties

  • Provide daily floor care services
  • Clean common areas such as bathrooms, lobby, and additional shared spaces
  • Gather and take out garbage
  • Restock supplies and put away inventory orders
  • Utilize equipment to scrub and polish flooring, as well as shampoo carpets
  • Adhere to strict safety and health requirements
