Job Duties

  • perform a variety of general housekeeping and cleaning duties in various areas to maintain the center in a sanitary safe attractive and orderly condition
  • receive assignments from supervisor and follow cleaning schedule as outlined for housekeeping department to clean offices handicap and visitors restrooms activity room kitchen restroom service entrance and therapy room entrances and exits utility areas closets lounges lobbies halls etc
  • perform emergency housekeeping
  • follow work assignments from supervisor and perform assignments such as checking and replacing light bulbs cleaning lint from dryers vents and registers in resident rooms and other areas
  • keep grounds cleared of debris
  • sweep front entrance and patio areas clean ash trays and ensure outside furniture is clean and usable
  • hose out garbage cans
  • wash windows and screens outside the building as assigned
  • clean dust wash and disinfect all fixtures floors walls doors and ceilings as required
  • scour and polish water fountains sinks mirrors glass panels in doors and partitions brass and movable and stationary furnishings and fixtures
  • change slip covers scarves doilies etc when soiled and arrange furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion
  • clean ledges shelves vents windows window sills etc
  • remove and rehang curtains drapes and dividers for cleaning when needed
  • replenish soap and towels in appropriate receptacles
  • work jointly with maintenance department personnel to service floors all resident rooms baths lounges nurses stations and offices as assigned
  • clean furnishings and horizontal surfaces to remove dust and dirt
  • work with residents nurses physicians department leaders and other staff members regarding environmental services requests infection prevention service resolution opportunities and other interdepartmental matters
  • provide timely follow-up for information to requesting departments
  • communicate and consult with management on best practices
  • perform housekeeping cleaning duties and maintenance tasks as defined in the environmental program
  • obtain list of rooms and areas to be cleaned immediately and list of prospective admissions and discharges to maintain room readiness
  • clean floors including sweeping dusting damp wet mopping disinfecting ensuring appropriate caution and safety signs are set up
  • ensure work assignment areas are clean and equipment tools supplies are properly stored at all times
  • clean carpets with appropriate machine and chemicals
  • perform floor care on tile floors using appropriate machines and chemicals
  • follow procedures for stripping and waxing floors
  • monitor and replenish cleaning products as required
  • inventory stock to ensure adequate supplies
  • use industrial cleaning equipment and products
  • utilize supplies and equipment properly and without waste
  • return any unused supplies to proper area
  • leave soiled materials and trash in designated areas and clean carts and equipment
  • perform terminal cleaning duties according to established procedure in resident rooms when resident has been discharged or transferred and prepare rooms for new occupants
  • perform cleaning duties in isolation units when resident is transferred according to established procedures
  • other duties responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice
