Job Description
Telecare Corporation is a dedicated healthcare organization committed to delivering high-quality behavioral health services. With a deep-rooted mission to support individuals with complex mental health needs, Telecare focuses on fostering recovery, hope, and wellbeing among its clients. The company champions cultural diversity, humility, equity, and inclusion by actively engaging mental health peers, BIPOC communities, LGBTQIA+ individuals, veterans, and diverse belief systems at every level of the organization. This inclusive approach reinforces Telecare’s commitment to providing compassionate and effective mental health care tailored to the diverse populations it serves. Gladman Mental Health Rehabilitation Center (MHRC), a licensed 40-bed facility under Telecare, specializes in sub-acute psychiatric treatment for adults aged 18 and older, offering critical support and rehabilitation services for those facing serious mental illness. The Gladman MHRC facility exemplifies Telecare’s core values and standards in providing safe, professional, and empathetic care.
The position of Housekeeper/Laundry Worker at Gladman MHRC is vital to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors alike. This role is part-time, with evening shifts from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM across a flexible schedule alternating between two-week cycles. The role offers a minimum hourly rate of $21.78 and is covered under a collective bargaining agreement, requiring union membership upon hire. As a Housekeeper/Laundry Worker, the selected candidate will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the facility’s building areas and managing laundry services, ensuring all environments meet the highest hygiene standards, thereby supporting the therapeutic milieu of the mental health rehabilitation center. The position plays a crucial role in infection control and supports daily operations essential to client safety and comfort.
Key responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, waxing, shampooing floors; dusting and sanitizing furniture, vents, counters, and stainless steel surfaces; cleaning resident rooms, dayrooms, offices, and utility rooms; managing waste disposal; laundering and distributing linens correctly; and cooperating with clinical staff to ensure a safe and respectful environment. The role demands a proactive team player with excellent judgment, who is comfortable handling challenges that may arise from working in a mental health facility and engaging directly with mentally impaired adults. Candidates must adhere strictly to safety programs, universal precautions, and Telecare’s professional standards to uphold the integrity and safety of the workplace.
This employment opportunity is ideal for individuals with at least one year of related housekeeping or laundry experience within healthcare, hotels, or motels, with particular preference given to those experienced in healthcare settings. A high school diploma or equivalent, proficiency in English, and willingness to work with mentally impaired adults are mandatory. Additionally, all applicants must pass fingerprinting, a criminal background check through the Department of Justice, and agree to Telecare’s professional and ethical requirements. This position requires physical endurance to handle repetitive tasks involving standing, walking, bending, and lifting under various conditions. Telecare offers a supportive working environment emphasizing professional development, safety, teamwork, and respect for all individuals, making it an excellent place for skilled housekeepers looking for meaningful employment in mental health care.
