The role of Public Area Attendant at Loews New Orleans Hotel is essential to maintaining the immaculate standards and inviting ambiance expected by guests. This position involves the thorough cleaning and upkeep of all public guest room areas, contributing directly to positive guest experiences and overall hotel reputation. The Public Area Attendant works closely with the Housekeeping Department to ensure cleanliness and safety throughout high-traffic areas such as lobbies, elevators, public restrooms, stairwells, and hotel entrances. Responsibilities include handling requests promptly, using proper cleaning chemicals safely, and supporting room attendants with duties such as trash removal and linen management. The attendant must also demonstrate professionalism by attending departmental meetings and training sessions, complying with company policies, and maintaining equipment and supplies in excellent condition.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in housekeeping or hotel environment preferred
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
- Must be able to stand, walk, push, stoop, bend and lift up to 150 pounds repetitively during entire shift
- Must have close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be customer-service orientated and professional
- Ability to comply with safety, uniform and grooming standards
- Ability to respond promptly to complaints and requests
Job Qualifications
- Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience is an asset
- Able to work as part of a dynamic quality-driven team
- Basic English language skills
- Customer-service orientated with excellent hospitality skills
- Ability to follow instructions and hotel procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members
- Willingness to attend training and meetings
- Physically capable to perform extensive standing, walking, lifting and bending
Job Duties
- Report to work as scheduled in proper uniform according to company standards
- Maintain a friendly positive attitude ensuring positive guest experience and recognition of returning guests
- Follow and adhere to all Housekeeping Department policies and procedures
- Use proper etiquette when communicating over the radio
- Respond, follow and close HotSOS and other requests assigned via Rexx radio
- Assist room attendants by emptying trash and soiled linen from housekeeping carts
- Maintain cleanliness in public restrooms, hotel lobby levels, ashtrays, elevators and tracks, ice machine areas, stairwells, building entrances and hallways
- Demonstrate excellent guest relations skills
- Clean back-of-the-house windows as needed
- Vacuum guest hallways daily
- Use proper chemicals according to department procedures
- Attend all departmental meetings as scheduled
- Perform duties in a timely and efficient manner
- Maintain linen closets clean, stocked and organized
- Remove trash to compactor at end of day
- Wash guest room glassware and deliver to linen closets
- Bring dirty glassware to housekeeping at end of shift
- Perform all other duties as directed by management consistent with company policies
- Promptly notify supervisors of problems or unusual matters
- Be polite, friendly and helpful to guests, management, and team members
- Attend appropriate hotel meetings and training
- Maintain cleanliness and excellent condition of equipment and work area
- Execute emergency procedures per hotel standards
- Comply with safety regulations and procedures
- Comply with hotel policies and rules
- Recycle whenever possible
- Stay current with hotel information and changes
- Promote teamwork skills at all times
- Notify appropriate individuals promptly of problems or unusual matters
- Adhere to hotel uniform and grooming standards
