Job Description
Sandpiper Hospitality (SH) is one of the fastest-growing companies in the extended stay hospitality market. With a strong commitment to exceptional guest experiences and maintaining top-tier property standards, Sandpiper Hospitality operates a wide range of extended stay hotels across various locations. The company prides itself on a culture that values energy, teamwork, and attention to detail, striving to create comfortable, clean, and well-maintained environments for guests during their stays. Sandpiper Hospitality's growth trajectory reflects its success in combining excellent customer service with operational efficiency, making it a notable player in the hospitality industry.
The role of Houseperson (H) at Sandpiper Hospitality is a critical, hands-on position designed for an essential, multi-skilled technician dedicated to maintaining the property's aesthetic appeal and operational functionality. This role blends light maintenance responsibilities with core housekeeping tasks, including preparing rooms after guest move-outs to meet company brand standards. The Houseperson plays a vital role in preventive upkeep efforts, contributing significantly to guest satisfaction by ensuring that the environment is safe, clean, and visually appealing.
In this position, the Houseperson is charged with performing light maintenance duties such as minor plumbing repairs, electrical work, painting, caulking, and general upkeep both indoors and outdoors, including parking lot maintenance and carpet shampooing. The role demands a proactive approach to identifying and resolving maintenance issues promptly to prevent escalation, thereby supporting the smooth operation of the property.
Additionally, the Houseperson is responsible for guest room preparation after move-outs, which involves thorough cleaning, inspection for potential pest or maintenance problems, and ensuring that each room is staged with the appropriate furniture, equipment, and supplies. This meticulous preparation is crucial for brand consistency and helps maintain high standards of cleanliness and comfort for guests.
Beyond maintenance and housekeeping, the Houseperson supports the laundry operations by assisting in sorting, washing, drying, and folding linens and terry cloth. The role also includes cross-training on related duties of Move-Out and Stay-Over Attendants to provide operational flexibility and comprehensive coverage as needed.
Availability for emergency response situations is essential, as the Houseperson may be required to respond on-call to urgent property issues, with all time spent on these tasks considered working hours. This position requires mechanical aptitude, physical dexterity, and the ability to work safely and independently, adjusting to dynamic work environments and diverse responsibilities.
Sandpiper Hospitality values applicants with a high school diploma or equivalent, preferably with 1-2 years of experience in light maintenance and housekeeping. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, mechanical repairs, and painting is important, along with skills in operating light equipment like pressure washers and carpet cleaners. Effective communication in English, problem-solving capabilities, and a friendly, service-oriented attitude are also critical to success in this role.
If you are looking for a diverse, hands-on role in a fast-paced hospitality company, the Houseperson position at Sandpiper Hospitality offers a rewarding opportunity to be a key contributor to property upkeep and guest satisfaction. Join Sandpiper Hospitality as a Property Upkeep Specialist and bring your energy and skills to a team committed to excellence.
