Job Description
The hiring organization is a reputable campus management entity specializing in maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of office and industrial building environments. The company prides itself on ensuring that all areas under its management are kept in pristine condition, facilitating a healthy, safe, and productive atmosphere for all occupants and visitors. With a commitment to operational excellence and attention to detail, this company provides a vital service that supports the overall functioning and aesthetic of diverse facilities.
This role is for a Custodian position, which holds significant responsibility in maintaining premises, rest, and working areas of offices and industrial buildings in clean and orderly condition. The Custodian's duties involve a broad range of cleaning, maintenance, and minor repair tasks. These tasks include dusting furniture, fixtures, and equipment, washing walls, sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, waxing, and buffing floors. Additionally, the Custodian is responsible for removing refuse, polishing furniture and fixtures, replenishing supplies, and cleaning lavatories, showers, or restrooms.
The Custodian plays a critical role by using specialized industrial equipment such as scrubbers, buffers, carpet cleaning machines, pressure washers, and cleaning solvents to maintain aseptic conditions. This position requires a hands-on approach to identifying and reporting maintenance issues such as water leaks, clogged drains, and malfunctioning equipment. Moreover, the Custodian is expected to perform minor maintenance tasks as directed, contributing to the seamless operation and presentation of the facilities.
Essential duties also include managing waste disposal by emptying trash cans, relining them with plastic liners, and disposing of refuse in dumpsters. The Custodian must keep entryways clean and free of debris and pick up all trash along sidewalks and grounds of residential programs. Carpet vacuuming and steam cleaning, cleaning restrooms and fixtures including urinals, toilets, sinks, and mirrors, cleaning windows and windowsills, refilling paper towel and antibacterial soap dispensers, and ensuring toilet paper dispensers are stocked are all integral aspects of this role.
Additional responsibilities involve general upkeep tasks such as dusting furnishings, changing light bulbs, cleaning wall and ceiling vents, changing furnace filters, and maintaining cleaning supply inventories. The Custodian is also responsible for providing accurate weekly documentation, timesheets, and notifying supervisors of issues requiring attention beyond the usual custodial scope of work. Sanitation, disinfecting, and fogging duties are part of the routine to maintain hygienic standards.
This position requires a general knowledge of custodial duties and property maintenance, with at least two years of related experience preferred. A high school diploma is required, underscoring the need for a foundational level of education. Benefits for this role include health, dental, 401K, short-term and long-term disability (STD/LTD), life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D), AFLAC, and paid time off (PTO), representing a comprehensive package supporting the wellbeing and financial security of the employee.
Overall, this Custodian position offers a rewarding opportunity for individuals who take pride in ensuring clean, safe, and well-maintained environments within office and industrial settings. It requires diligence, responsibility, and a proactive approach to facility upkeep, making it a crucial role in the company’s operations and guest satisfaction.
