The Environmental Services-Hospital Department at Banner Boswell offers an exciting opportunity for the role of Housekeeping EVS Associate. This full-time or part-time evening role is integral to maintaining the hospital's environment, ensuring it remains clean, sanitary, and safe for patients, visitors, staff, and medical professionals. The position is physically demanding and fast-paced, involving extensive walking, pushing a cleaning cart, and performing cleaning tasks that include sanitizing patient rooms and various hospital areas. Housekeeping associates may be assigned to specialty areas such as the morgue or COVID-19 units, requiring the handling of cleaning chemicals and biohazard situations such as blood or bodily fluid clean-up.
This role emphasizes teamwork, effective communication with medical staff, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness. Banner Boswell Medical Center values its housekeepers as essential members of the healthcare team contributing significantly to patient care by providing a clean and hygienic environment. New hires in this position must complete onboarding promptly, undergo background checks and drug screening, and comply with the annual flu vaccination requirement. The job offers a competitive sign-on bonus (up to $1000), a flat-rate weekend shift differential, and an 18% night shift differential where applicable. Shift schedules include full-time (40 hours/week, 3PM-11:30PM, five days a week) and part-time evening shifts (28 hours/week, 3PM-10PM, four days a week), with weekends and holidays required.

Job Requirements
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision
- Ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
- Effective communication skills by phone and verbally
- Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets and cleaning chemical instructions
- Ability to fill out chemical identification stickers
- Must complete onboarding timely or job offer will be rescinded
- Must undergo background check and drug screening
- Must receive annual flu vaccine or follow exemption process
- Employees at Banner Behavioral Health or Whole Health Clinic must possess and maintain Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
Job Qualifications
- Previous related experience preferred
- Familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively by phone and verbally
- Ability to read and understand safety data sheets and chemical mixing instructions
- Ability to fill out chemical identification stickers
- Additional related education or experience preferred
Job Duties
- Perform assigned cleaning tasks including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming, and polishing according to departmental policies
- Empty hampers and transport soiled linen
- Empty trash containers and remove all trash including medical waste and sharps
- Inventory, restock, and replenish supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand soap
- Maintain cleanliness of departmental equipment and report repairs
- Perform special cleaning projects like window washing and removing heavily soiled items
- Respond to questions and requests from patients, staff, and visitors while meeting customer service goals
