The medical center features 286 private rooms, 13 operating suites, a 46-bed emergency department, and specialized services such as oncology, obstetrics, bariatric surgery, and neonatal intensive care units. As a Housekeeping Environmental Services (EVS) Associate at Banner Gateway Medical Center, you will play a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment that supports patient care and comfort. This full-time position involves varied shifts, primarily the evening shift from 3 pm to 11:30 pm, including weekends and holidays, with a flat rate weekend shift differential and an 18% night shift differential when applicable. Sign-on bonuses are available for qualified candidates, with specific eligibility criteria provided by the recruiter.

Your responsibilities will include cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining assigned areas within the hospital, including patient rooms and specialty areas such as the morgue or COVID-19 units. Working in this role requires physical stamina to manage a fast-paced environment that involves a lot of walking and pushing cleaning carts. You'll handle cleaning chemicals safely and will need to communicate effectively with medical staff and your team. The role demands adherence to hospital standards for cleanliness and safety, contributing to the overall health and well-being of patients, visitors, and staff.

This position requires completing onboarding in a timely manner and undergoing a background check and drug screening. Employee health requirements include receiving an annual flu vaccine, with exemptions handled through the recruiter. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to work varied shifts including evenings weekends and holidays
  • physical stamina to handle fast-paced and physically demanding work
  • ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely
  • successful completion of background check and drug screen
  • timely completion of onboarding process
  • completion of annual flu vaccine or approved exemption

Job Qualifications

  • ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision
  • ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
  • effective communication skills by phone and verbally
  • ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for mixing and using cleaning chemicals
  • ability to fill out chemical identification stickers
  • previous related experience and familiarity with environmental services equipment preferred
  • additional related education and or experience preferred

Job Duties

  • performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks including dusting mopping scrubbing disinfecting vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures
  • empties hampers and transports soiled linen
  • empties trash containers and removes all trash including medical waste and sharps
  • inventories restocks and replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue paper towels and hand soap
  • maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and notifies appropriate personnel for repairs
  • performs special projects such as window washing wall washing and removing heavily soiled items or furnishings
  • responds to questions and requests from patients staff and visitors
