The role available at Banner Boswell Medical Center is that of a Housekeeping Environmental Services (EVS) Associate. This full-time daytime position (40 hours per week, 7 AM to 3:30 PM) is integral to maintaining the hospital's cleanliness and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The Housekeeping EVS Associate will be responsible for a variety of cleaning and sanitizing tasks in patient rooms and other assigned areas, including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming, and polishing. This role requires handling of cleaning chemicals and potentially working in specialized areas such as the morgue or COVID-19 units, making it both physically demanding and vital to hospital operations. The associate will also manage the disposal of soiled linens and medical waste, inventory and restock supplies, and maintain departmental equipment.
Working in this fast-paced and physically active environment demands excellent communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to adapt to new challenges. Job Requirements
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision
- Ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
- Effective communication skills by phone and verbally
- Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for mixing and use of cleaning chemicals
- Ability to fill out chemical identification stickers
- Pass background check and drug screen
- Compliance with annual flu vaccination policy
- Availability for weekend and holiday rotations
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including walking and pushing cleaning carts
Job Qualifications
- Previous related experience preferred
- Familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques preferred
- Ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
- Effective communication skills by phone and verbally
- Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and chemical usage instructions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision
Job Duties
- Perform a variety of assigned cleaning tasks including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policies and procedures
- Empty hampers and transport soiled linen
- Empty trash containers and medical waste including sharps
- Inventory, restock and replenish supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand soap
- Maintain cleanliness of departmental equipment and notify appropriate personnel for repairs
- Perform special projects such as window washing, wall washing, and removing heavily soiled items
- Respond to questions and requests from patients, staff and visitors
