Job Description
The role of a Housekeeper at Intermountain Health St Vincent Regional Hospital is critical in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitary condition of the hospital and its associated buildings. This position is responsible for performing general housekeeping tasks that meet both hospital standards and Joint Commission regulations, ensuring a safe and attractive environment. Job Requirements
- Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or shifts is required
- Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily
- Compliance with hospital policies and procedures
- Physical capabilities including carrying, climbing, crawling, hearing/listening, lifting, manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, seeing, speaking, squatting/kneeling, standing, walking
- Willingness to obtain Biohazardous Waste certification within 6 months if required at certain care sites
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Biohazardous Waste certification obtained within 6 months of hire at certain care sites
- Ability to understand and follow hospital and Joint Commission sanitation standards
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical ability to perform manual cleaning tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
Job Duties
- Clean patient rooms or dismissal units by disinfecting all surfaces, emptying trash, cleaning sinks, counters, showers, and toilets, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, restock paper products, shampoo carpets
- Disinfect all public areas including sinks, toilets, walls, handrails, stairwells, and floors, damp mop, refill paper products, replace blinds, shampoo carpets, buff or wax floors as needed
- Follow proper procedures for separating regular waste from biohazardous waste, disposal of needles, and storage of clean and dirty linens
- Clean ancillary areas using backpack vacuum, cleaning restrooms, trash disposal, damp disinfecting
- Dispose of sharps containers per policy at certain care sites
- Promote mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Healthcare and abide by service behavior standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
