Job Description
Franciscan Health Indianapolis Campus, located at 8111 S Emerson Ave in Indianapolis, Indiana, is part of the Franciscan Health system, a leading healthcare organization committed to delivering exceptional patient care and fostering health and wellness across the community. Franciscan Health is renowned as one of the largest Catholic healthcare systems in the Midwest with 12 ministries and numerous access points spread across Indiana and Illinois. The organization’s mission focuses on providing high-quality care through innovation, compassion, and excellence, emphasizing the importance of compassionate and comprehensive care for patients and their families. As a respected and established healthcare provider, Franciscan Health emphasizes a supportive and inclusive work environment, making it a preferred employer in the healthcare industry.
The role of EVS (Environmental Services) Associate I at Franciscan Health Indianapolis Campus plays a vital part in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the hospital facilities. This position is responsible for ensuring that patient rooms, common areas, and clinical spaces are kept sanitary, safe, and free of contaminants that can affect patient health and the overall environment. The EVS Associate I will carry out cleaning and sanitizing duties using hospital-specific equipment, such as microfiber cloths and wet mops. In addition to floor cleaning, this role involves cleaning and sanitizing surfaces including over-bed tables, counters, furniture, toilets, urinals, sinks, showers, walls, and mirrors.
Another critical responsibility includes cleaning vertical surfaces like walls, ceilings, and windows and ensuring high dust surfaces such as picture frames, vents, and doorframes are free of dust and grime. The EVS Associate I inspects rooms to confirm thorough cleaning has been completed and reports any safety or maintenance concerns promptly to their supervisor. Restocking essential supplies like paper, hand sanitizers, and hand soap is also part of the daily routine. The role involves handling trash and linen removal, making sure that receptacles are clean and prepared for reuse. Care for any equipment used in cleaning and maintaining it properly is expected, along with adherence to department policies and procedures.
This is an entry-level position ideal for individuals seeking to join a dedicated healthcare team in a supportive and mission-driven organization. Those working as EVS Associates contribute directly to the hospital’s infection control efforts and provide a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The position requires attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. While the posting does not specify salary, Franciscan Health is known for offering competitive wages and comprehensive benefits. The employment type is permanent, and staff receive ongoing training and support. As part of a large healthcare system, employees also benefit from the potential for career development and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact through their work in environmental services.
