Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • One year of experience in custodial, housekeeping, or related work preferred
  • Knowledge of custodial, housekeeping, laundry operations, and floor care
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
  • Organized, able to multi-task, think creatively and adapt to different situations
  • Preferably knowledge on using iPad with training provided
  • Must be able to complete training on computer and/or other devices
  • Maintain competency in the position and knowledge of trade/industry advances and new technologies
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English with all levels of staff, residents, and guests
  • Has current and valid Fingerprint clearance card or can apply for one within 20 days of hire
  • If driving duties apply, has current, valid driver’s license
  • Driving record must meet the criteria set forth by Royal Oaks’ insurance carrier
  • Able to carry/lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds
  • May need to operate a fire extinguisher
  • Able to assist in evacuation procedures
  • Able to meet physical and cognitive essential functions including climbing, kneeling, lifting, walking, standing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, fine and gross manipulation, oral and written communication, and problem solving
  • Able to work in varied environmental conditions including indoors, outdoors, around chemicals, dusty and odor conditions
  • Must undergo pre-employment drug screening, criminal background check, APS registry check, fingerprint clearance, employment verification, and TB testing

  • Effective communication skills in English with staff, residents, and guests
  • Ability to adapt to different situations and manage multiple tasks
  • Competency in using technological devices such as iPads (training provided)
  • Ability to maintain trade knowledge and industry advances
  • Current and valid Fingerprint clearance card or ability to apply within 20 days of hire
  • Current, valid driver’s license if driving duties apply
  • Driving record meeting insurance criteria if driving

Job Duties

  • Clean garden and assisted living homes, apartments, rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and other work areas to meet health standards
  • Empty wastebaskets and transport other trash and infectious waste to designated disposal areas
  • Sweep, scrub, and polish floors using brooms and mops
  • Dust and polish furniture and equipment
  • Keep storage areas and carts well stocked, clean, and organized
  • Replenish supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand cleaners/soap
  • Sort clothing and other articles, load washing machines, and iron and fold dried items
  • Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, waxing and polishing as needed
  • Observe precautions to protect residents' property and report damage, theft, and found articles to supervisor
  • Report building or equipment repairs to the maintenance department
  • Perform varied housekeeping tasks related to facility upkeep
  • Attend all required meetings and assist other departments as needed
  • Operate/drive a golf cart for transporting supplies or employees around the campus as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
