Job Description
The University of Notre Dame, founded in 1842, is a distinguished American research university renowned for its commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service to the common good. As a Catholic institution, Notre Dame blends a strong tradition of faith with intellectual inquiry, fostering an environment that encourages both academic rigor and ethical leadership. The university campus, situated in Notre Dame, Indiana, hosts a vibrant community of students, faculty, and staff dedicated to advancing the institution's mission while cultivating inclusivity and innovation. Notre Dame offers world-class facilities and renowned academic programs, supporting a dynamic and rewarding workplace for those aiming to make a meaningful impact in their roles.
The DeBartolo Performing Arts Center (DPAC) at the University of Notre Dame is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant to provide essential support in maintaining cleanliness and order in the facility. This temporary part-time position requires working 12 to 18 hours per week, primarily during weekends, with occasional weekday or weeknight shifts depending on event schedules. The role is crucial for ensuring that public and support spaces within the DPAC remain welcoming, clean, and ready for events. Duties involve trash removal, floor care including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and spot cleaning, as well as cleaning and disinfecting surfaces and glass. Additional tasks include replenishing bathroom and breakroom supplies and performing other housekeeping responsibilities as assigned. The position offers an hourly wage of $19.00.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals who can work independently, follow detailed instructions and safety procedures, and are capable of performing physically demanding tasks such as lifting up to 40 pounds and standing or walking for long periods. Prior professional cleaning experience is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates should also possess good verbal communication skills to interact effectively with managers via phone, text, or email during shifts. The University of Notre Dame values its employees and promotes an equal opportunity workplace that does not discriminate based on race, color, national or ethnic origin, sex, disability, veteran status, genetic information, or age. By joining DPAC as a Housekeeping Assistant, individuals contribute directly to the success of events and the overall positive experience of visitors and staff at one of the university's key cultural centers.
