The Housekeeping/Laundry Technician role at ECHRS is a vital position responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the facility. This role ensures that the nursing home meets the highest standards of hygiene and safety by performing a variety of tasks related to cleaning, laundry, and general upkeep. The position is a float role, requiring flexibility in working different shifts across multiple departments, including housekeeping and laundry. With shifts typically running from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM for housekeeping and 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM for laundry, this role also includes working every other weekend, which requires adaptability and a strong work ethic.

Housekeeping/Laundry Technicians at ECHRS follow detailed checklists to ensure all cleaning tasks meet the facility’s standards. They are tasked with cleaning resident rooms, restrooms, floors, and various surfaces throughout the building. Duties include dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, disinfecting, and deep cleaning rooms, especially following the discharge or transfer of residents. Technicians are also responsible for restocking supplies such as towels and toilet paper, managing laundry duties like washing, drying, ironing, and sorting linens, and handling lost and found items sensitively.

The role demands a proactive, team-oriented individual capable of working efficiently in a nursing home setting which may involve prolonged standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing physically demanding tasks such as bending, pushing, and pulling equipment throughout the day. The Housekeeping/Laundry Technician will also maintain positive relationships with residents and staff, ensuring privacy and respect for residents’ possessions while providing top-quality housekeeping services.

In addition to routine cleaning, this position requires periodic deep cleaning and terminal cleaning to prepare rooms for new residents. The technician is expected to monitor and report on cleaning supply inventories, respond promptly to housekeeping issues such as spills, and ensure that equipment is cleaned, disinfected, and stored properly after each shift.
