Job Requirements
- Sufficient education to demonstrate functional literacy
- Prior housekeeping experience in an institutional setting preferred
- Must demonstrate functional literacy in language, mathematics, and reasoning
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal directions
- Physical strength and mobility to perform duties including lifting and assisting residents
- Ability to use personal protective equipment and comply with safety procedures
- Must be free from illegal drug use and workplace substance effects
- Must pass background checks for abuse, neglect, or mistreatment history
Job Qualifications
- Freedom from illegal use of drugs
- Freedom from use of and effects of drugs and alcohol in the workplace
- Persons found guilty of abuse, neglect, or mistreatment in a healthcare setting are ineligible
- Utilizes effective time management skills
- Sufficient education to demonstrate functional literacy
- Prior housekeeping experience in an institutional setting preferred
- Must demonstrate functional literacy in language, mathematics, and reasoning
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal directions
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and residents
- Knowledge of emergency disaster procedures
- Physical ability to move freely and assist residents in emergencies
Job Duties
- Carries out all duties in accord with the facility mission and philosophy
- Demonstrates knowledge of and respect for the rights, dignity and individuality of each resident in all interactions
- Appreciates the importance of maintaining confidentiality of resident and facility information
- Demonstrates honesty and integrity in the care and use of resident and facility property
- Cleans assigned resident rooms, bathrooms and common areas daily according to facility procedures
- Cleans walls, ceilings, windows, mirrors, and waxed floors according to department procedures and cleaning schedules
- Disposes of trash and waste including biohazardous waste in accordance with facility policies
- Posts signs indicating safety hazards during housekeeping activities
- Uses personal protective equipment as required
- Complies with all safety instructions and procedures when using chemical substances
- Monitors and reports evidence of rodents or pests
- Communicates with Director of Housekeeping & Laundry regarding state inspections
- Reports injury to self or others immediately to supervisor
- Attends in-service education programs
- Monitors workplace for safety and fire hazards and reports potential problems
- Participates in fire and disaster drills
- Carries out all other housekeeping duties as assigned
