Job Description

The hiring establishment is a healthcare, long-term care, or assisted living facility committed to providing a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for its residents, staff, and visitors. This type of facility focuses on the well-being and care of individuals who require assistance with daily living or ongoing medical needs, creating community-oriented living spaces that nourish health, comfort, and dignity. Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation is essential to the facility's operation and helps prevent infection and ensures the well-being of its residents and staff.

We are currently seeking a dedicated Housekeeping Aide to join our team. The Housekeeping Aide plays a vital role in ensuring that resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, and other parts of the facility are meticulously cleaned and sanitized according to established cleaning schedules and procedures. This role involves sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting floors, furniture, and various surfaces, as well as proper disposal of trash and hazardous materials following waste management protocols. The aide is responsible for replenishing supplies in restrooms and common spaces, such as soap, towels, and toilet paper.

In addition to general cleaning tasks, the Housekeeping Aide manages linen and laundry duties including changing bed linens, towels, and other supplies in resident rooms, collecting soiled linens, transporting them to laundry areas, and ensuring the availability of clean linens throughout the facility. Emphasis is placed on safety and infection control measures, requiring adherence to protocols such as proper use of cleaning agents and disinfectants and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) especially in high-risk or hazardous areas.

The Housekeeping Aide also supports the resident experience by interacting respectfully and considerately with residents, maintaining privacy and personal space, and assisting with minor requests when possible. Collaboration within the housekeeping team and other departments is key to completing cleaning tasks efficiently and effectively. Additionally, aides are expected to report safety hazards, maintenance issues, cleaning supply shortages, or damaged equipment promptly to supervisors.

This position is ideal for individuals with a strong attention to detail, commitment to cleanliness, good communication skills, and a positive attitude. While previous housekeeping experience in healthcare, long-term care, or hospitality is preferred, it is not required as comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided. The role emphasizes teamwork, independence, and a proactive approach to maintaining sanitation standards to support the overall health and safety of the facility’s community.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous housekeeping experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas according to established cleaning schedules and procedures
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect floors, furniture, and surfaces
  • Dispose of trash and hazardous materials following proper waste management protocols
  • Replenish supplies such as soap, towels, and toilet paper in restrooms and common areas
  • Change bed linens, towels, and other resident room supplies as needed
  • Collect and transport soiled linens and towels to the laundry area
  • Ensure clean linens and towels are stocked and available throughout the facility
  • Follow all safety guidelines and infection control protocols, including the proper use of cleaning agents and disinfectants
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when cleaning high-risk areas or handling hazardous materials
  • Report any safety hazards, maintenance issues, or damaged equipment to the supervisor promptly
  • Interact with residents in a friendly and respectful manner while performing cleaning duties
  • Be mindful of residents' privacy and personal space while working in their rooms
  • Assist residents with minor requests, such as moving furniture or delivering requested items, if within the scope of the position
  • Work closely with other housekeeping staff and facility departments to ensure all cleaning tasks are completed efficiently
  • Assist with special cleaning projects or deep cleaning tasks as needed
  • Communicate any cleaning supply shortages or equipment malfunctions to the housekeeping supervisor
