Job Description

The hiring establishment is a medical center focused on providing patients with a clean, safe, and sanitary environment to promote health and well-being. As a healthcare facility committed to high standards of cleanliness and safety, the medical center relies on diligent environmental services staff to maintain all aspects of the facility’s hygiene. The medical center employs a variety of cleaning equipment and products to ensure all patient and auxiliary areas are kept in optimal condition, supporting the broader mission of quality patient care and operational efficiency. This role is vital to sustaining a healthy environment conducive to patient recovery and employee safety.

The job available is for an Environmental Services Worker who will operate under direct supervision to clean and maintain assigned areas of the medical center. This role requires expertise in using a diversity of cleaning machines such as wet mop units, floor scrubbers, shampoo machines, carpet extractors, and utility carts, among others. The worker will clean patient rooms inclusive of restrooms and furniture, and auxiliary areas such as nursing stations, staff lounges, and exam rooms. Duties extend to stocking necessary cleaning supplies like paper towels and soap, reporting unsafe conditions, and maintaining strict adherence to safety policies including proper handling and disposal of sharp objects. This position is critical to ensuring the medical facility meets regulatory and safety standards while also providing a clean and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

This position involves physical demands such as moderate to heavy lifting, with required capabilities including lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying 25 pounds, and pushing carts up to 200 pounds. The job also entails frequent pulling, pushing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, and reaching, paired with extensive standing and walking. Effective communication skills and the ability to understand instructions clearly are necessary, as is a willingness to engage positively in a Labor Management Partnership environment. Though supervision is provided, this role does not include supervisory responsibilities. Candidates with six months of prior experience in a cleaning or environmental services role are preferred to ensure a high level of competence and efficiency in task execution.
