Job Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Selective service registration required for males born after 12/31/1959
- Subject to background/security investigation
- Pre-employment physical examination required
- Participation in seasonal influenza vaccination program mandated
- Ability to perform continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing
- Ability to safely operate heavy powered cleaning equipment over 50 pounds
- Must complete a one-year probationary or two-year trial period
- Compliance with onboarding and identification verification processes
- Availability to work full-time shifts including 7:00a-3:30p, 11:00a-7:00p, or 11:00p-7:30a
- No educational qualification required
- Willingness to follow PPE and safety protocols
- Must be able to work inside temperature-controlled environments and occasionally outdoors in varying weather
Job Qualifications
- Experience in janitorial or custodial work

Job Duties
- Perform a full range of light and heavy cleaning duties and routine housekeeping duties at the VA Medical Center
- Clean wards, patient rooms, storerooms, offices, corridors, restrooms, and shower rooms
- Sweep, mop, scrub floors using machines, and vacuum carpets and upholstered furniture
- Empty waste baskets, clean light globes and Venetian blinds, wash walls, windows, and ceilings
- Refill toilet tissue and towel dispensers and move furniture as needed
- Carry out assignments with minimal supervision
- Address spills quickly and ensure patient areas are safe and sanitary
- Install light bulbs in halls and rooms
- Vacuum and polish floors
- Operate heavy powered cleaning equipment when required
- Adhere to safety and infection control protocols including use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
