The role of Housekeeping at Orchards Post-Acute is a vital position that supports the maintenance of a clean, safe, and sanitary environment consistent with all federal, state, and local regulations. This includes maintaining an adequate supply of laundry and linen and performing various cleaning tasks essential to infection control and safety standards.

The Housekeeping staff are responsible for routine cleaning duties such as sweeping, dusting, mopping, waxing, and buffing floors while applying proper safety measures, including setting up caution signs to prevent accidents. They also follow specific infection control protocols, particularly in isolation areas, to prevent the spread of infections. Additionally, employees in this role assist in maintaining material safety data sheets (MSDS) and ensure that hazardous chemicals are properly labeled and stored, adhering to organizational safety policies.

Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 3 to 6 months experience in housekeeping or laundry services preferably in a skilled nursing facility or similar setting

Job Duties

  • perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned
  • perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments
  • clean floors including sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, disinfecting while ensuring safety signs are set up
  • perform isolation cleaning procedures following infection control protocols
  • assist in maintaining material safety data sheets for hazardous chemicals
  • ensure hazardous chemical containers are properly labeled and stored
  • report hazardous conditions or equipment to supervisor
  • maintain infection control and universal precaution practices when performing laundry procedures
  • perform other necessary tasks to maintain cleanliness and safety of laundry department
