Job Description

The Hilton Garden Inn at OSU is a well-established hotel, known for providing comfortable accommodations and excellent guest services in the heart of the Ohio State University area. Part of the globally recognized Hilton brand, this hotel combines modern amenities with a welcoming atmosphere, aiming to create a memorable stay for both business and leisure travelers. We are currently seeking motivated individuals to join our housekeeping team. This position offers both full-time and part-time opportunities, with a starting wage of $15.00 per hour. Full-time housekeepers qualify for a comprehensive benefit package that starts 30 days after employment begins. As a Housekeeper at the Hilton Garden Inn at OSU, you will play a vital role in maintaining the pristine condition of guest rooms and public areas. Your responsibilities will include cleaning and sanitizing guest rooms according to the hotel’s standards, replenishing supplies and amenities, and inspecting rooms to ensure they meet quality requirements before being marked ready for guest occupancy. Your attention to detail will be essential in dusting and cleaning all furnishings, including televisions, desks, nightstands, lamps, air conditioning units, and window ledges.

You will also be expected to maintain your cleaning supplies and cart in a safe, organized, and presentable manner. Prompt response to guest requests and effective handling of guest complaints are critical to promoting goodwill and ensuring a pleasant guest experience. Additionally, teamwork, organization, and thoroughness are highly valued qualities at our hotel. You will need to respect internal hotel procedures while preparing bedrooms efficiently and systematically.

Safety and professionalism are core to this role. Housekeepers must wear a uniform and nametag at all times, follow all hotel policies and emergency protocols, and adhere to standards of discretion to avoid disturbing guests. Other duties include laundry services, public area cleaning, and deep cleaning projects when assigned. Flexibility in working hours is required to meet the dynamic demands of the hospitality industry. Job Requirements

  • Minimum high school education
  • Prior housekeeping or hotel experience preferred
  • Must be able to push, pull, bend, stoop and reach upwards
  • Must be able to lift up to 40lbs
  • Must tolerate exposure to extreme temperatures
  • Must tolerate prolonged periods of standing and/or walking
  • Willing to work flexible hours
  • Must follow all hotel policies and emergency procedures
  • Must wear uniform and nametag
  • Must maintain personal cleanliness

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum high school education
  • Prior housekeeping or hotel experience preferred
  • Prior knowledge of operating laundry room dryers and washers desired but not required

Job Duties

  • Have a good understanding of all of hotels operating procedures
  • Be knowledgeable of rooms types and standards for supplies
  • Check the general condition of the room and notify the Housekeeping Supervisor of any malfunction or damage
  • Clean and sanitize guest rooms, replenish supplies and amenities, inspect and report rooms ready for sale to the front desk all in accordance with hotel’s training and standards
  • Dust and clean all furnishings in guest room including the television, desk, desk chair, desk lamp/shade, air conditioner unit, head boards, night stand, wall picture, wall lamp/shade and window ledge
  • Maintain cleaning supplies and the cleaning cart in safe, organized and presentable fashion
  • Ensure prompt and systematic servicing of all guest requests
