The Housekeeping Assistant role at Cantex plays a vital part in maintaining the facility's cleanliness and overall hygiene standards, directly contributing to the wellbeing and safety of patients and residents. This full-time position involves performing scheduled housekeeping tasks assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor, with duties including mopping, sweeping, dusting, washing windows, shampooing and vacuuming carpets, arranging furniture, and cleaning furniture, equipment, fixtures, and hardware throughout the facility. The Housekeeping Assistant ensures that all patient rooms, bathrooms, and common areas are cleaned and sanitized daily according to facility protocols.

In this role, attention to detail and knowledge of proper chemical use and cleaning procedures are essential. The position requires the use of floor-care equipment as well as an understanding of safety protocols, including identifying and correcting hazards and adhering to facility rules. Employees in this role are also responsible for maintaining communication with supervisors about repair needs and requesting necessary supplies and equipment to keep the facility operating smoothly.

Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to perform physical tasks associated with housekeeping
  • understanding of safety procedures and chemical use
  • ability to communicate effectively
  • willingness to attend training and comply with policies
  • ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team

Job Qualifications

  • experience in institutional housekeeping or maintenance is helpful
  • experience in the use of floor-care equipment is helpful
  • ability to read, write, and speak the English language

Job Duties

  • cleans and sanitizes patient rooms, bathrooms, and common areas daily in accordance with facility protocols
  • uses proper chemicals in proper portions and performs dust mopping, wet mopping, or spot-mopping floors
  • empties trash containers, replaces liners, and disposes of trash appropriately
  • vacuums carpets as directed by supervisor
  • utilizes proper chemicals and equipment to wash and dry windows
  • reports repair needs to supervisor or maintenance department
  • requests needed supplies and equipment from supervisor
  • identifies and corrects safety hazards and abides by safety rules
  • enforces abuse prevention policies
  • attends weekly in-services and complies with patient care management systems
  • assures patient and resident safety
  • performs other duties and tasks as assigned
