The Housekeeping Assistant position at Cantex Continuing Care Network is a pivotal role involving maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout patient rooms, bathrooms, and common areas within the facility. This role works directly under the supervision of the Housekeeping Supervisor and requires diligent performance of scheduled housekeeping duties such as mopping, sweeping, dusting, washing windows, shampooing and vacuuming carpets, arranging furniture, and cleaning various fixtures and hardware. The shift available for this position runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., providing a consistent schedule for those seeking reliable employment hours. Candidates should expect to handle various cleaning chemicals and floor-care equipment safely and proficiently while keeping patient and resident safety as a priority.

Housekeeping Assistants play an essential role in ensuring a comfortable, sanitary environment which supports optimal patient health and recovery. Their responsibilities also include identifying safety hazards, reporting repair needs, requesting necessary supplies, and maintaining compliance with Patient Care Management Systems through active participation in weekly training sessions. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • prior housekeeping or maintenance experience preferred
  • ability to operate floor-care equipment safely
  • basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures
  • good communication skills in English
  • ability to follow instructions and work under supervision
  • physical ability to perform manual cleaning tasks
  • availability to work the 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. shift

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in institutional housekeeping or maintenance is helpful
  • experience in the use of floor-care equipment is helpful
  • ability to read, write, and speak the English language

Job Duties

  • Cleans and sanitizes patient rooms, bathrooms, and common areas on a daily basis in accordance with facility protocols
  • uses proper chemicals in correct portions for cleaning tasks
  • dustmops, wet mops, or spot-mops floors as needed
  • empties trash containers, replaces liners appropriately, and disposes of trash in proper receptacles
  • vacuums carpets as directed by supervisor
  • washes and dries windows using proper chemicals and equipment
  • reports repair needs to supervisor or maintenance department
  • requests needed supplies and equipment from supervisor
  • identifies and corrects safety hazards and abides by safety rules
  • attends weekly in-services and complies with patient care management systems
  • ensures patient and resident safety
  • performs other duties and tasks as assigned
