Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • one year experience in a health care facility preferred
  • ability to read, write and speak English
  • follow instructions
  • deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members and visitors
  • properly use supplies and maintain equipment
  • maintain appearance of housekeeping areas in a safe, clean and comfortable manner
  • work harmoniously with personnel
  • willingness to seek and incorporate new housekeeping methods
  • able to follow written and oral instructions concerning cleaning compounds
  • knowledge of health department standards
  • able to work Wednesday through Sunday
  • able to perform physical cleaning tasks
  • maintain confidentiality of resident information

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED preferred
  • one year of experience in a healthcare facility preferred

Job Duties

  • Perform specific tasks according to daily work assignments and established housekeeping procedures
  • assure assigned work areas are clean, safe, comfortable and attractive
  • follow infection control practices during housekeeping
  • follow safety precautions when using equipment and supplies
  • clean and polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, and temperature units daily
  • sanitize bathroom fixtures
  • clean windows and mirrors in resident and common areas
  • clean floors including sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting
  • clean carpets with vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing and disinfecting
  • clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, spot cleaning and deodorizing
  • remove dirt, dust, grease and film from surfaces with proper solutions
  • clean hallways, stairways, and elevators
  • discard trash properly and reline receptacles
  • report hazardous conditions and equipment
  • maintain clean and organized work areas
  • track inventory of cleaning supplies
  • report lighting issues to supervisor
  • perform terminal cleaning after resident discharge or transfer
  • follow fire-safety policies
  • assist others with lifting heavy items
  • report accidents and incidents
  • maintain confidentiality of resident information
  • honor personal property of residents
  • turn in found items to supervisor
  • attend meetings
  • keep work areas free of hazards
