PIER 39 is one of San Francisco's premier waterfront attractions, celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere, stunning views, and diverse offerings. Situated on 45 acres, this complex hosts over 14 full-service restaurants, more than 90 shops, exciting attractions, a 5-acre waterfront park, and a 300-berth marina. Known for breathtaking views of landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge, Alcatraz Island, and the San Francisco skyline, PIER 39 draws millions of locals and visitors annually. The famous California sea lions also call this location home, adding to its unique charm and appeal. As a Housekeeper at PIER 39, you will play a crucial role in sustaining the cleanliness and appeal of this beloved destination. This seasonal position, offering $25 per hour and operating under a union agreement, is expected to conclude at the end of September 2026. You will be responsible for a wide range of housekeeping duties, both inside and outdoors, to ensure every corner of the property is immaculate and inviting for guests and tenants alike. Your work will help maintain not only the aesthetic standards but also the safety and comfort of visitors exploring this iconic waterfront area.

The role requires physical stamina and attention to detail, as tasks include cleaning various environments such as offices, restrooms, breakrooms, walkways, stairwells, elevators, decks, and perimeter roadways. You'll manage trash removal and oversee proper waste processing with an emphasis on recycling, composting, and landfill guidelines. Additionally, you will contribute to event setups and perform post-event cleanups, supporting the dynamic and bustling atmosphere of PIER 39. Your effort ensures that events run smoothly and that the property remains pristine before and after these occasions.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Housekeeping, janitorial, or custodial experience
  • Proficient in the use and operation of cleaning appliances
  • Thorough understanding of the proper use of commercial cleaning agents
  • Attention to detail
  • Capable of performing physically demanding tasks in outdoor settings
  • Previous experience in customer service is beneficial

Job Duties

  • Transport and stock supplies at designated locations throughout property
  • Clean, dust, sanitize and polish
  • Sweep, mop and vacuum
  • Trash removal and receptacle maintenance
  • Collect waste materials and process accordingly (recycle, compost, landfill, special handling)
  • Interior cleaning – offices, restrooms, and breakrooms, etc.
  • Exterior cleaning – walkways, stairwells, escalators, elevators, restrooms, perimeter roadway, wood decks, etc.
  • Support event setup and post-event cleanup
