Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • or one year related experience and/or training
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • ability to write simple correspondence
  • ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • ability to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear regularly
  • frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and taste or smell
  • occasionally required to climb or balance
  • must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • must occasionally be exposed to bloodborne pathogens
  • ability to work 20 hours weekly on Monday, Wednesday, Friday shifts

Job Duties

  • Follows established cleaning schedule
  • completes daily dusting, vacuuming, sweeping and mopping of all common areas
  • follows established schedule for deep cleaning of resident rooms
  • cleans administrative offices as scheduled
  • cleans and sanitizes bathrooms
  • cleans carpets and mops all floors upon request
  • maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment for all residents
  • ensures and supports a dignified and caring atmosphere for residents, families, visitors, and associates
  • responds promptly and courteously to resident's, families, and visitors requests for assistance
  • speaks to/interacts with residents showing empathy, kindness, compassion, and respect
  • communicates effectively in a language that each resident is capable of understanding
  • maintains a safe and secure working environment free of objects/situations that could cause harm and/or falls to residents, families visitors and associates
  • practices good body mechanics and safe working habits
  • observes and reports safety hazards immediately to supervisor
  • provides assistance to associates when requested or required
  • knows, understands and follows established policy and procedures in emergency situations
  • is considered essential personnel during emergencies and/or inclement weather
  • works as a team player with other associates and management in accomplishing work assignments
  • always demonstrates a positive and respectful attitude about work issues, policies and procedures
  • complies with attendance and call off policy
  • attends and/or participates in trainings, in-service and mandatory meetings
  • wears clean and appropriate dress per established dress code policy
  • refrains from discussing resident issues with families and visitors and refers all inquiries to immediate nursing supervisor
  • knows, understands, and complies with HIPAA regulations
  • provides "hands-on" assistance when requested or needed by nursing staff while working in the community
  • participates in leisure activities provided to residents as described in the activity calendar
  • serves and assist residents in the dining room at breakfast, lunch and dinner daily
  • takes on special projects or assignments outside of regular duties willingly
  • performs all other reasonable duties as assigned or as requested
