Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 6 months of related experience required
  • 1-2 years housekeeping experience preferred
  • 1 year lead experience preferred
  • good verbal and written communication skills
  • capable of working independently
  • able to set priorities and be flexible in assignments
  • able to work around housekeeping chemicals
  • full range of motion and ability to lift 50 lbs

Job Duties

  • Empty, clean and reline trash containers
  • properly dispose of all waste including biohazardous materials
  • high dust surfaces above shoulder height
  • sanitize and spot clean
  • clean restrooms, restocking dispensers
  • dust hard surface floors/vacuum carpets
  • sanitize floors/carpets
  • ensure customer satisfaction with completed work
  • perform additional cleaning and bed making as required by patient discharge or transfer including removal of clinical support equipment and supplies as well as soiled linen
  • conduct specialized cleaning and support for patient isolations
  • terminal cleaning of operating, emergency, labor and delivery, ICU and/or special procedures rooms including specialized furniture and equipment
  • assist supervisor with training new hires and in-service training with staff
  • perform patient interviews on incoming and discharging patients to inform them of expectations from the EVS department
  • follow up on complaints and concerns made by patients, family members and staff
  • perform duties of supervisor in their absence
  • adhere to Patient Safety Goals
  • respond to emergency situations appropriately
  • demonstrate knowledge of emergency preparedness codes
  • recognize safety hazards and act to protect patients, self and others
  • perform other related duties as assigned
