The role of Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant at Eventide Care Center is essential in maintaining the hygiene and comfort of the facility. Duties include cleaning resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, and staff spaces using effective cleaning techniques such as mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and washing surfaces. Maintaining laundry equipment and ensuring infection control policies are followed are also key responsibilities. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Ability to perform physical cleaning and laundry duties
- Basic understanding of infection control practices
- Ability to work weekends and flexible hours as needed
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow policies and safety procedures
- Ability to maintain a clean and safe environment
- Ability to sort and handle laundry properly
Job Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred
- Previous healthcare or long-term care experience preferred but not required
- Experience in laundry services is preferred but not required
Job Duties
- Clean resident rooms, bathrooms, common resident and tenant areas, staff work areas and other common areas used by staff and visitors
- Perform cleaning procedures such as mopping, dusting, vacuuming, washing windows and walls, polishing and scrubbing
- Ensure that all work areas and carts are kept safe, neat, and secure
- Apply infection control and department and facility policies and procedures that directly affect housekeeping duties
- Follow all safety rules when using equipment and chemicals and report unsafe work areas to a supervisor
- Maintain a positive relationship with residents, tenants, families, and other staff
- Re-stock housekeeping carts, soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, and toilet tissue dispensers throughout the campus
- Keep all equipment clean, locked as indicated, and in a safe manner, as work dictates
- Assist with dining room clean-up process as needed
- Wash, dry, and hang or fold all residents or tenants' clothing, bedding, tablecloths, etc. along with facility linens
- Sort personal clothing and linen into appropriate bins for washing
- Distribute clean linen to resident care areas in appropriate, covered carts
- Stock linen carts and closets accurately
- Clean and maintain all laundry containers and bins according to policy and procedure
- Apply all infection control, departmental, and facility policies and procedures which directly affect laundry duties
- Monitor and restock cleaning chemicals and detergents as necessary
- Report any malfunctioning laundry equipment or unsafe work areas to supervisor
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
