Job Description

Canterbury Woods Retirement Community is a welcoming and compassionate senior living facility dedicated to providing a warm and comfortable environment for its residents. Located in a serene setting, Canterbury Woods is part of the Front Porch family of communities which emphasizes quality of life through excellent services and a supportive atmosphere. This community prides itself on promoting independence while offering a range of supportive care options tailored to meet the varying needs of seniors. As a retirement community, Canterbury Woods focuses on creating a safe, peaceful, and enriching environment where residents can thrive socially, physically, and emotionally. Their commitment to excellence extends beyond residents to the employees who serve them, fostering a respectful and inclusive workplace culture that values diversity and equal opportunity.

The role of Housekeeper/Laundry Aide at Canterbury Woods Retirement Community is a vital position designed to uphold the cleanliness and comfort of residents' living spaces and common areas. Working under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor or Assistant Supervisor, this role ensures that the community maintains the highest standards of hygiene and maintenance, contributing significantly to the overall quality of life experienced by the seniors living there. The position has a clear pay range of $20.25 to $22.00 per hour and operates on an on-call basis from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering flexibility suitable for individuals seeking part-time or supplemental work.

In this capacity, the housekeeper/laundry aide plays a multi-faceted role including dusting and cleaning furniture, walls, ceilings, and woodwork; vacuuming carpets, rugs, draperies, and hallways; emptying wastebaskets and ashtrays; and transporting trash to designated disposal areas. Beyond typical cleaning duties, this position also involves laundry responsibilities such as processing linens through collecting, sorting, washing, drying, ironing, folding, and delivering, ensuring that residents always have access to fresh and clean linens.

This position also requires keen attention to safety and maintenance; the housekeeper identifies and reports repair needs promptly, adheres strictly to safety protocols including the use of personal protective equipment, and participates in campus-wide safety programs. The role requires flexibility to perform emergency cleaning when accidents or special needs arise and the willingness to support all facets of housekeeping operations, including final cleanings for new residents and maintaining fully stocked supply rooms.

Canterbury Woods is dedicated to supporting employees through mandatory training sessions and in-service meetings, fostering a culture where safety and cleanliness are paramount. Employees are expected to follow all federal, state, and corporate health codes and guidelines. The community values teamwork, respect, and stewardship of its environment and resources.

As an employer, Front Porch stands firm on equal opportunity principles, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds and providing a workplace free from discrimination or bias. Employment with Canterbury Woods requires candidates to successfully complete a pre-employment physical, physical abilities test, drug screening, and a criminal background check to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all residents and staff. This position is ideally suited for individuals who exhibit strong customer service skills, a commitment to cleanliness, and a readiness to contribute positively to a supportive retirement community environment.
